The National Center for Environmental Justice (NCEJ) completed the project “Strengthening Environmental Governance Frameworks in Local Administration Programs for the Central Region Governorates in Jordan” funded by the International Republican Institute (IRI).

It included 3 workshops, the first workshop was about the “Opportunities and Challenges for Provincial Councils in the Central Region”. It covered and highlighted the challenges faced by the councils and also reviewed previous success stories.

The second workshop was about “How to Include Environmental and Development Issues in Electoral Programs”. The workshop was a practical training on how to include environment and sustainable development in electoral programs.

The third workshop titled “Strategic Planning to Integrate Environmental and Development Projects into Local Administration Work Programs”, aimed at raising the skills of provincial council members in the central region in integrating the development and environmental dimension into the strategic plans of their programs.

These workshops are part of NCEJ’s plan to highlight the importance of the environment, the laws that govern its application, and how to raise the awareness of those who can be part of the change towards a better understanding of the challenges and the solutions.
