NCEJ: The National Center for Environmental Justice (NCEJ) signed an agreement with the Ministry of Environment, represented by the Environmental Protection Fund, to implement the project “Promoting home Aquaponics through environmental empowerment in the face of the Corona crisis”.
The project aims to provide support to a selected group of the most affected small farmers in the targeted areas, the Northern Jordan Valley, Mafraq, Ma’an and Ajloun, with a total of 360 male and female beneficiaries.
The project is based on empowering and training families on Aquaponics in homes and owned agricultural areas, environmental marketing methods, raising awareness in the field of environmental rights and legal defence methods, and supporting the social aspect of families to be more productive for all participants.
This project is part of the plans to support the projects of the Environmental Protection Fund for civil society organizations active in the field of environmental rights, by going to implement financial productive projects using agricultural ecosystems that adapt to emergency situations such as the Corona pandemic.
The project seeks to enhance the income of small farmers by training them on modern methods of farming and providing job opportunities to ensure the provision of sustainable and scalable income, the exploitation of local resources in an environmentally friendly manner, the rationalization of water and energy consumption, and the reduction of the effects of climate change in those areas, which reflects its positive impact on security food in those areas.
The agreement was signed by His Excellency Dr. Moawya Al-Radaydah, Minister of Environment on behalf of the Environmental Protection Fund, and Dr. Muhammad Eyadat, Chairman of The National Center for Environmental Justice (NCEJ).
