The National Center for Environmental Justice (NCEJ) concluded the final stage of the project “Strengthening Environmental Governance Frameworks in Local Administration Programs for the Central Region Governorates in Jordan” funded by the International Republican Institute (IRI).
The third phase workshop titled “Strategic Planning to Integrate Environmental and Development Projects into Local Administration Work Programs”, and it aimed at raising the skills of provincial council members in the central region in integrating the development and environmental dimension into the strategic plans of their programs.
The four-day workshop for the governorates of (Amman, Zarqa, Al-Balqa, and Madaba) included a discussion of what strategic planning is, the developmental and environmental dimensions that the councils may face in the governorates, and what is the role of the committees in adopting strategic plans to support and develop them.
Where the first session focused on a general discussion among council members of the challenges and development projects available in their geographical areas, and what are the possible frameworks for adopting sustainability in these projects, which was moderated by Dr. Nada Hamdan, the training consultant at the center, and Mr. Mahmoud Naser, the administrative and financial director of the center.
While the second session included the stages of strategic planning, and an analysis of the internal environment of the council, and the external geographical area, to determine the most important goals and ways to be adopted by this council towards its vision in governorates, districts, and brigades compatible with the requirements and needs of citizens within sustainable frameworks, which was presented by Mr. Mahmoud Naser from the National Center for Justice environmental.
