The National Center for Environmental Justice (NCEJ) concluded the first phase of the implementation of the “Administrative Restructuring of the Environmental Justice Sector in Jordan” project, funded by the French Embassy, which was entitled “Procedures for Pleading Environmental Cases before the Specialized Jordanian Courts (Lawyers Round) Level I and Level II.”

The first level included an explanation of the concepts of trials in environmental crimes, and the legal basis for liability for environmental damages (criminal and civil), and then a study and analysis of some environmental issues (the reality of his condition), and it was concluded through a mock trial in an imaginary environmental case, which he prepared and supervised. She was trained by Dr. Attorney Adel Saqf Al-Hait, an expert in pleading procedures before courts.
As for the second level, it included a group of basic topics, where Dr. Mustafa Al-Khasawneh presented the first session entitled “National Environmental Legislative and Judicial Policy, and its compatibility with international standards.” The session was followed by a panel discussion on some environmental cases and problems and judicial and legislative policies that are invoked in the courts. Punitive and penal, and the second session was presented by Dr. Attorney Adel Saqf Al-Hait, which was titled “The Possibility of Proving Environmental Damage in Civil and Criminal Cases”, followed by a practical application of environmental litigation in national courts as an interactive exercise in which the attendees participate in analyzing an environmental case and how to analyze its clauses. He concluded through training.
The first phase targeted 30 practicing lawyers, of both sexes, from several regions and specializations.
This project aims to strengthen and develop the structure of the environmental justice sector and to enhance public participation and access to justice in environmental matters by enabling, strengthening and developing the capabilities of the groups most involved in the environmental justice sector with these laws by judges, prosecutors, lawyers, local community institutions, associations and advocacy campaigns.
Noting that the second phase of the project will be launched later, and will target judges and public prosecutors in order to enhance the objective of the project, which is the administrative restructuring of the environmental justice sector in Jordan.
